______
Flora of the Fertile Mind explores the landscape of the human brain. This work draws conceptual parallels between neural systems and botanical growth, echoing the real-time activation of brain regions through light.
Motion sensors trigger lighting to display hidden imagery of abstracted nerve-like drawings behind the foreground of encaustic painting on polycarbonate panels.
______
(One image shows the unlit piece next to the piece that is lit by the motion sensor.)
This piece will require proximity to an electrical outlet and is sold with the motion sensor and plug.
*** It’s NOT advisable to remove the motion sensor to light the piece continuously for more than a brief period of time. Constant lighting results in a build up of heat inside the panel, which could warp and damage the surface art. It’s also easy to disconnect the motion sensor for times when you wish to not have the sensor trigger the backlight.
